ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Kiwanis Golden K is back this year with the “Little Miss Peanut” contest at the Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival on Friday, Aug. 19 from 6-7 p.m. on the downtown gazebo stage. Golden K kicked it off earlier this month with flyers and applications to area elementary schools, and it welcomes all girls ages 6-8 years old at the time of the festival.
Little Miss Peanut will represent the Kiwanis in various activities and fundraisers, such as the festival parade on Sunday, Aug. 21, the Creston Booster Days parade on Sunday, Sept. 18, the annual Peanut Day fundraiser and the Salvation Army Collections in December.
If your child is interested in participating in the contest, please email [email protected] and it will email you an application with all of the instructions included. The deadline for all applications to be submitted is July 1.
Completed applications will be reviewed by the committee and from those, 10 girls will be selected to go on to the final competition at the festival.
The girls will be asked questions while they are on the stage, and our three judges will select two top candidates. One will be crowned “Little Miss Peanut” and the other will be the runner-up. Prizes will be awarded to all 10 selected for the finals.
Golden K is also interested in having previous Little Miss Peanut winners join it at the beginning of the contest, so please reach out if you are a previous Little Miss Peanut.
Any questions, please email [email protected] or contact Kiwanis President Ric Taylor at (630) 330-2444.
