It was a beautiful day for a race this past weekend, and 175 competitors traveled to Rochelle Township High School Saturday morning to participate in the 11th Annual Hospital Hustle 5K hosted by Rochelle Community Hospital.

175 competitors race in 11th Annual Hospital Hustle 5K

ROCHELLE — It was a beautiful day for a race this past weekend, and 175 competitors traveled to Rochelle Township High School Saturday morning to participate in the 11th Annual Hospital Hustle 5K hosted by Rochelle Community Hospital.

40-year-old Dan Palmer finished first and won the individual men’s title with a time of 18:11, while 35-year-old Trese McNinch placed seventh overall and brought home the women’s title with a time of 21:57. Approximately 10 youth runners raced to the finish in this year’s Carington’s Kids Race, with each kid receiving a medal and a T-shirt after the race.

Seven teams registered to compete in this year’s Hospital Hustle, with Anytime Fitness taking the team title. Other squads included Holcomb State Bank, First National Bank of Rochelle, Maplehurst Farms, Silgan, SWATT and OSF HealthCare.

Results

David Wanner took first place in the boys 14-and-under age group with a time of 22:22, while Kyler McNinch placed second and Peter Forsberg finished third. Lauren Turner took first place in the girls 14-and-under group with a time of 28:33, while Kayla Rager placed second and Cadence Scott finished third.

Tucker Louis took first place in the boys 15-19 age group with a time of 22:11, while Alec Farber took second with a time of 54:13. Megan Schramm won in the girls 15-19 age group with a time of 24:22, while Francheska Brzazagon placed second and Jessica Hickey finished third.

Lauren Murphy recorded the top time in the women's 20-24 age group at 25:47, while Genises Lopez placed second and Jessica Albers finished third. Ryan Hanson took first in the men’s 20-24 age group with a time of 28:24, while James Morris placed second and Matt Rosenwinkel finished third.

Kevin Cech took second overall and first in the men’s 25-29 age group with a time of 19:26, while Aaron Vaiden placed second and Terry Plemmons finished third. Mallory Streit won the women’s 25-29 age group with a time of 27:20, while Alison Mercer-Curtis placed second and Alyssa Sebree finished third.

Justin Medine took fourth overall and first in the men’s 30-34 age group with a time of 19:51, while Brent Holcomb placed fifth overall and second in the group with a time of 20:06 and Erik Bolander finished third in the group. Natalie Crocker took the women’s 30-34 age group title with a time of 23:43, while Meghan Schoenecker placed second and Katie Rager finished third.

Sam Brown took second in the women’s 35-39 age group behind McNinch, running a time of 25:18 while Angel Erics placed third and Sarah Corrigan landed in fourth. Bobby Chadwick won the men’s 35-39 age group with a time of 24:13, while Dale Wells placed second and Jared Johnson finished third.

Jason Long took second behind Palmer in the men’s 40-44 age group with a time of 23:11, while BT Carmichael placed second and Jamie Grant finished third. Carrie Messinger won the women’s 40-44 age group with a time of 26:27, while Kari Andrist placed second and Melody Worthington finished third.

Todd Drager took first in the men’s 45-49 age group with a time of 26:29, while Jason Popp placed second and Bruce Seldal finished third. Cherie Hayes won the women’s 45-49 age group with a time of 33:11, while Barb Koehnke placed second and Kim Louis finished third.

Tom Lichty took third overall and first in the men’s 50-54 age group with a time of 19:49, while David Hayes placed second and Mark Batty finished third. Laura Cirone won the women’s 50-54 age group with a time of 35:36, while Lauri Hayes placed second and Heidi Mann finished third.

Keith Lamb took sixth overall and first in the men’s 55-59 age group with a time of 21:43, while George Wilhelmsen placed second and Jim Zeinz finished third. Karen Cech won the women’s 55-59 age group with a time of 29:14, while Diane Wilhelmsen placed second and Connie Dougherty finished third.

Barbara Harte won the women’s 60-64 age group with a time of 25:49, while Linnae Anderson placed second and Shirley Pelletier finished third. Carl Norlin took first in the men’s 60-64 age group with a time of 27:18, while Jim Tilley placed second and Mark Jordan finished third.

Karen Bonnell took first in the women’s 65-69 age group with a time of 31:14, while Marilyn Balch placed second and Linda Kulesa finished third. Charlie Johnson won the men’s 65-69 age group with a time of 34:32, while Arthur Stark placed second with a time of 39:56.

John and Esther Prabhakar were the only two finishers in the men’s and women’s 70-79 age group, with Esther clocking in at 53:09 and John crossing the line in 53:50. There were no competitors in the 80-and-older age group this year.
