ROCHELLE — As Bryn Kissack shares her camping trip stories, her eyes light up when she talks about some of her favorite things.
The 12 year-old attended Camp Independence over the summer, which is described as a special place for campers age seven and up with spina bifida and other neurological disabilities.
For Kissack, it’s an opportunity to make new friends and enjoy fun activities for a week. Camp Independence teaches campers self-reliance in a camp setting complete with campfires, boating, and plenty of outdoor and indoor activities.
“My favorite is the horses and meeting new friends,” she began, pointing to pictures of the two miniatures horses named Hope and Spirit. “I love horses so much. I’ve been riding them since I was 18 months old.”
Kissack said along with her favorites, she enjoyed swimming, boating, and making arts and crafts.
