DAVIS JUNCTION — A Rockford man is being held in Ogle County Jail on $1,000,000 bond after being charged in the stabbing of a woman at the Rolling Meadows Trailer Park in Davis Junction.
According to the Ogle County Sheriff's Department, at 1:49 a.m. on Friday, June 1, deputies responded to Rolling Meadows trailer park, 4989 N. IL Rt. 251, Davis Junction in reference to a female screaming.
Deputies found a 37-year-old female lying in the roadway. She had been stabbed multiple times. The victim was transported to Swedish American Hospital and later flown to a Madison hospital were she is listed in critical condition.
Leonard Smith, 44, of Rockford was taken into custody at the scene. Smith is currently charged with aggravated battery and aggravated domestic battery. Additional charges may be pending.
