LEE — On March 12 at approximately 9:57 p.m., a passerby called the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a residential fire at 3482 Willow Creek Road near Lee.
Area fire departments from Paw Paw, Shabbona, Waterman, Steward, Ogle-Lee and Leland responded to the scene. The residence was fully engulfed upon arrival.
After the fire was brought under control, the body of Jeffrey W. Schneider, 37, was found in the debris of the residence.
The incident is under investigation by Illinois State Fire Marshall, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Technician, Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Lee County Coroner’s Office.
