HILLCREST — A former Rockford man will do prison time for a home invasion in Hillcrest in 2017 after he was found guilty in Ogle County court on Monday.
Following a bench trial, Ogle County Circuit Judge Robert Hanson found Casimir Williams, 20, now of Dalton, guilty of the felony offense of home invasion and aggravated battery and armed robbery.
The home invasion took place in January 2017 at a residence in the 200 block of Jeffrey Ave., in Hillcrest. During the home invasion, the male resident was shot in the stomach by a handgun during an altercation. He was treated for his injuries.
Two other men were arrested in connection with the incident; Eddie Blaylock, 25, and Rayvon Motton, 23, were also arrested and have cases pending in court. According to police, Motton is believed to have been the shooter during the incident.
Both testified during Williams’ bench trial. Their cases are currently pending in Ogle County Court.
According to officials, the motive in the home invasion was for the intent of theft of cannabis.
Williams will return to court Nov. 14 for sentencing. He could face 48 to 120 years in prison because a firearm was used during the home invasion. His sentences would run consecutively and he will serve at least 85 percent of his sentence.
