On July 1 at approximately 6:13 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a motorcycle accident with an injury. Upon arrival, Deputies learned a 2015 Yamaha motorcycle was driven by Devin Messenger, 21, of Oregon, was traveling southbound on River Road when he locked his brakes up in the roadway to avoid deer. Messenger then laid the motorcycle down in the roadway before coming to rest. Messenger was transported to SwedishAmerican Hospital by Byron EMS for non-life threatening injuries.

On July 1 at 3 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a motorcycle for speeding on Illinois Route 64 near Woodlawn Road. The driver of the motorcycle failed to stop and continued eastbound on Illinois Route 64 at a high rate of speed. After traveling approximately one-and-a-half miles the driver lost control on a curve near the intersection with Esmond Road. As a result, the motorcycle went off the north side of the roadway and into a field where the driver was ejected. The driver who was identified as Darion Brown, 29, of Rockford, refused treatment from the Malta Fire Department firefighters who assisted at the scene. DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies assisted at the scene with the accident investigation. Brown was cited with driving while license revoked, fleeing to elude, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding. Brown was released on an I-bond and was transported by a family member to the hospital for treatment with non-life threatening injuries.
