Maplehurst tradition

LINDENWOOD — Hundreds attended the annual Maplehurst Farms open house Thursday.
For over 40 years the Carmichael family and staff at Maplehurst Farms have hosted the customer appreciation luncheon.
A big hit was the pie auction with the proceeds being donated to local FFA chapters. Over 15 pies and trays of cookies were auctioned off, with the bidding reaching $300 on some of the tasty treats.

Rochelle Township High School teacher and FFA advisor Donna Page attended the luncheon with the FFA officers, something she does every year. Maplehurst has been a supporter of the FFA.
“For over seven years Maplehurst has partnered with our FFA chapter to operate the variety test plot that helps fund our FFA chapter and agriculture program at RTHS. They have provided inputs that has allowed our chapter to cover a portion of the costs of operation,” Page said. “It has definitely been an extremely generous and positive partnership with our chapter.”
Rep. Tom Demmer shared the latest happenings in Springfield, speaking to those in attendance. He also briefly talked about the potential for a Toyota/Mazda plant moving to the area.
