CRESTON — Marie J. Hill, 90, moved to her eternal home on Jan. 19, 2021. Marie was born Oct. 22, 1930 to Martha (Meling) and Grant Brown in DeKalb.

Following graduation from Steward High School and Waldorf College, she became a teacher at Steward Elementary School. Marie married Carl Hill on April 11, 1953, at Calvary Lutheran, their life-long church, where they worshiped with their family.

Marie’s greatest reward was service to her Lord and Savior through participation in women’s groups, bible studies, choir, council and service on the Northern Illinois Synod ELCA Women’s board.

Marie’s earthly treasures were her beloved husband and children. She received with joy each new treasure as her family grew! She provided for her family’s every need with a gracious, loving, joyful heart and acknowledged her many blessings. Marie created a beautiful, welcoming home with wonderful memories for all who entered.

Marie was pre-deceased by her husband, Carl; infant daughter, Carla Jo; brother, Albert Brown; six sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; one niece and three nephews.

Marie is survived by her children, Paul, Mark (Dee), Beth (William) and Ann; grandchildren, Steve (Abby), Amy (Mat), Brittany (Aaron), Ben (Maria), Hannah (Stephen), Jocelyn (Brian), Sydney and Georgia; great-grandchildren, Riley and Reagan; sister, Mary Lou (Daryl) Kemper; brother-in-law, Donald Hill; and many nieces and nephews.

To the staff at Oak Crest Retirement Center and to her personal care assistant, Beth Jerdee, the family extends their sincere gratitude for your loving care of Marie.

Marie’s life will be celebrated in 2021 when family and friends are able to gather. In Marie’s memory, memorials may be given to Calvary Lutheran Church, Lee. Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle.
