Marijuana talks Monday

ROCHELLE – City of Rochelle leaders will be holding a town hall meeting this Monday at 6 p.m., to discuss the possibility of marijuana dispensaries operating in town.
The meeting will take place at the city council chambers and will be run by the city manager and the city staff. The public is encouraged to attend to voice its opinions on the issue, and there will also be a chance for attendees to write down questions that will be addressed by the staff.
There will be no decisions made at the meeting as the main goal is to inform residents about the new laws and get their feedback on the topic.

“It is an opportunity for local citizens to voice their opinions one way or another regarding the subject of cannabis being offered through dispensaries in our local community,” explained Rochelle Mayor John Bearrows.
During the meeting, possible state laws and city regulations will also be discussed. Whether the response from the community is positive or negative, the city thinks it is important to hear a variety of viewpoints from community members before any decisions are made.
“We were elected by the people to represent them and that is what this meeting is for, to get their opinions,” added Bearrows.
