WAUKESHA, Wis. – Marvin Wilkinson, 93, passed peacefully into God’s loving arms on July 22, 2017. Marvin was a special soul. He lived a life full of grace and tenderness and shared that with everyone he met.
Marvin was born to Floyd and Jane Wilkinson on April 18, 1924 in DeKalb. He attended schools in Malta and graduated from Rochelle High School in 1942. Marvin served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. as a pilot of a B-24 completing 18 missions during 1944 and 1945. While in flight training at Smyrna Air Base in Tennessee he met and then married Mary A. Doster of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Marvin loved his family, loved to fly and travel extensively and loved to fish. He was a devoted fan of both the Cubs and the Bears. He was a member of Lindenwood Union Church, a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He farmed near Rochelle and worked full time for the Federal Aeronautics Administration for 28 years until he retired in 1981.
He was the loving husband of Mary for 73 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Ken Halwachs) of Stratford, Ontario; son, Floyd (Anne) Wilkinson of Kenosha, Wis.; daughter-in-law, Penny Wilkinson of Delafield, Wis.; six grandchildren, Philip Rolfe, Lisa Palasti, Chad, Tricia, Nathan and Colin Wilkinson; four great-grandchildren, Anthony and Evan Palasti, Jacob Rolfe and baby boy LaBarre.
He is predeceased by his son, Greg Wilkinson; brother and sister-in-law Eugene and Peggy Wilkinson; and parents Floyd and Jane Wilkinson.
Marvin was filled with loving kindness and all who knew him were touched and honored by his grace-filled heart and were blessed to share in his life’s journey.
Visitation and memorial service with family is from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 29 at Avalon Square, 222 Park Place, Waukesha, Wis. Marvin’s life celebration with fellowship and light hors d’oeurves to follow promptly at 2:30 p.m.
