ROCHELLE –– Rides, foods and fun go hand in hand at a festival. The Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival is no different, as attendees will have plenty of opportunities for fun. The 20th annual festival promises to be bigger and better than in past years.
The festival this weekend features a new carnival company, additional food booths and more sellers during the craft and vendor sale.
A new carnival company will be setting up space downtown Rochelle with rides and attractions that will run from Friday night to Sunday evening.
A & A Attractions will bring a Ferris wheel, tilt-a-whirl, super slide, hammer and screamboat. The Ferris wheel will be larger than the ride in past years.
The festival kicks off on Friday, Aug. 18 with carnival rides and the food court opening at 4 p.m. and running until 10 p.m.
The rides will start up again on Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. The festival will close at 11 p.m. on Saturday and 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20.

Tickets can be purchased in advance from any committee member throughout the weekend. This year, festival-goers can purchase a MEGA-Pass good Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Mega-passes are $50 when purchased in advance and may be obtained at Rochelle City Hall, RMU, Rays New & Used Furniture, Quinn’s Jewelry and Colonial Flower Shoppe. The coupon can then be exchanged for a wristband during the festival. Daily passes are also available, priced at $25 Friday and Sunday and $30 for Saturday. Mega-Passes will be available during the festival for $60.
Kid Zone
The Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival Kid Zone will be held Saturday, Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. next to the fire station museum.
The kid zone will feature bounce houses from Jumpers Jumpies, Belle will delight the children during a meet and greet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The rescue dogs from Paw Patrol will be in the kid zone from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Children will have the opportunity to decorate treats and join in a cake walk from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The kid zone will also feature face painting and additional activities for children.
Food court
The food court will run Friday through Sunday and feature 13 vendors serving exclusive items. The food court will be open Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
Food vendors include: R&S Concessions Italian ice and jumbo pretzels, Genoa concessions serving Italian sausage, Witters with funnel cakes and lemonade. S&K Gyros, Tacos Alpastor #1, Culvers custard, Rochelle Fire Department pork chop sandwich, Country School icecream, Kiwanis – Golden “K” grilling brats and hotdogs, Ole Folkes BBQ serving pulled pork and beef bricket, Oasis with Mexican corn and fruit cups, Galas Snack Shack serving popcorn and BBQ pulled chicken, and El Senor de las Tacos with burritos and quesadillas.
Parking
New this year will be handicap parking located near Dan Miller Insurance, 427 N. Main St.
The 20th annual festival will feature a new layout for events and attractions to provide the best entertainment for festivalgoers.
