STILLMAN VALLEY — Michael Lynn Wethington, 64, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2019 in Polo. Mike was born on June 27, 1954 to Ira O. and Matra (Overstreet) Wethington in Delavan Township. He married Jeri Lee Honeg on June 6, 1975 in East Peoria.
Mike worked for the Plumbers & Pipefitters Locals 63, 501 and 597 for many years before retiring.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Charles, and sister, Barb Wirtjes.
Mike was devoted to his family and friends. He was right hand man for many horse and goat shows, for his daughters. He was involved in helping at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, church baseball, Ogle Co. 4-H activities, club volleyball and the Norman Skare Museum, in Rochelle. Coaching Boys Club basketball and many adult softball teams, in Pekin, was especially enjoyable to him. He loved being outdoors, shed parties, playing his guitar, watching sports, golfing, fishing at Rochelle Conservation Club and horseback riding.
Mike is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jeri, of Stillman Valley; two daughters, Cori (John) Lamberson of Chicago, and Amy Wethington of Oregon; brother, Marshall Wethington of Monticello, Kentucky; and sister, Shirley (Bob) Welborn of Pekin.
Special thanks to the incredible, caring staff at both Unity Hospice, and Polo Rehab and Nursing home, Polo. Also to our many prayer warriors that supported us through this journey.
There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2 at Kishwaukee Community Church, 8195 Kishwaukee Road, Stillman Valley, with Pastor Eric Tonjes officiating. A celebration of life, open house, fellowship will be following, until 4 p.m. Inurnment will be held at the Lakeside Cemetery, 1917 N. 8th St., Pekin, on Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. with lunch to follow. Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home.
