New challenges and opportunities

SPRINGFIELD – State Sen. Brian Stewart (R-Freeport) was sworn in as State Senator for the 45th District during inaugural ceremonies in the Senate Chambers, as the 101st General Assembly convened Jan. 9.
Illinois Supreme Court Justice Mary Jane Theis administered the oath of office to Stewart and his Senate colleagues. He has served in the Senate since December 2018, and in the House of Representatives from October 2013 to December 2018.

“The convening of the 101st General Assembly signals a renewed commitment to face the challenges and welcome the opportunities awaiting Illinois. Years of questionable policy decisions and budgeting practices have left their mark on our state,” Stewart said. “We have our work cut out for us, and the decisions will be tough. It will be better for all of us if we decide now to work together rather than getting bogged down in partisan bickering.”
Sen. Stewart says bipartisan pension reform, balanced budgets, and common-sense economic growth initiatives should be immediate priorities to help boost jobs and bring economic prosperity to Illinois communities.
The 45th District includes all or part of Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, LaSalle, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties. Stewart’s office is located at Stewart Centre, 50 W. Douglas St., Suite 1001, Freeport, IL  61032 (815-232-0774).
Locations for offices in Dixon and Springfield will be announced soon. His e-mail address is brian@senatorstewart.com and his Web site is http://senatorstewart.com/.
