Creston—  The Ogle-Lee Fire Protection District responded to a barn fire at 7607 S. Woodlawn Road in rural Creston at 10:28 a.m. on Saturday. Firefighters from Ogle-Lee’s Creston, Steward, and Flagg Center Stations along with firefighters from the Rochelle Fire Department and Malta Fire Department responded to the scene. Upon arrival firefighters found the south portion of the barn was involved in fire. Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire to prevent it from spreading to uninvolved portions of the barn or adjoining structures.

The southern portion of the 40 feet by 80 feet barn had previously collapsed and was in the process of being demolished at the time of the fire. Embers from a nearby burn pile were blown into the collapsed portion of the barn igniting the structure. No other structures were damaged and there were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Firefighters remained on scene for approximately two hours.
