ROCHELLE — Norman Joseph Yeaton passed comfortably at his home in Rochelle on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019. He was born July 8, 1955 in Chicago to Wesley Yeaton and Elsie O’Reilly.
Norman was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his family. He was a postal carrier, and an avid nonfiction reader who was deeply spiritual. He enjoyed music, carpentry, cooking, political discussions, and thrifting with his wife. He served in the Army as an RTO and was very proud of his military service, as well as his ancestry in Maine and his Chicago upbringing. Most of all, Norman was proud of his strong marriage and of the adults his sons have become. Norman was loved and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends and his pet cat, Fergie.
Norman is survived by his wife and best friend of 38 years, Ruthann Yeaton, and his sons Caleb of DeKalb, and Dylan (Traci) of Naperville, as well as his brothers Kevin (Joann) and Ian (Sue). He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Norman on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the VFW, 318 4th Avenue, in Rochelle, between 1 and 3 p.m.
