ROCHELLE — Norvin Louis Moss, 80, of Rochelle, passed away on Aug. 1, 2018 at Bethany Health Care and Rehab in DeKalb. He was born Feb. 3, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa, to Marvin and Florence (Springer) Moss.
He was in the United States Air Force and Illinois Air National Guard for 29 years, with one year in Vietnam. He also was a scout master for nine years and had nine Eagle Scouts under him in Rochelle Troop 312. He worked 25 years at Swift and retired as a Federal Meat Inspector for Aurora Packing Company.
Norvin is survived by two children, Randy (Dianna) Moss of Creston and Kathie (Tim) Pemberton of Rochelle; one sister, Karen (Floyd) Baber of Sioux City, Iowa; six grandchildren, JR (Monica) Pemberton, Tiffany Pemberton, Kenny (Nadine) Dutka, Angelena Moss, Cara Freung and SSG Randall Moss Jr (Kassy); seven great-grandchildren, Austin Pemberton, Jayden Banta, Alex Pemberton, Addison Moss, Zachariah Moss, Laurel Dutka and Willow Pemberton; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Patricia Maher of Ely, Iowa.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his spouse, Geraldine (Gerri).
Visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 6 from 4-8 p.m. at Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home, 704 N. Sixth St., Rochelle. Funeral services to be held the next day, Aug. 7, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Trinity Memory Garden Cemetery in Rochelle. T
