OREGON — On Feb. 24 at approximately 8 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop within the 103 mile marker of Interstate 39 southbound. After an investigation, deputies arrested Estaban Coroy-Juarez, 53, of Rockford, for driving unlicensed. Coroy-Juarez was released at the scene on an I-Bond and will appear before a judge on a later date.

On Feb. 25 at 8:30 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 5,000 block of North Mt. Morris Road. for an equipment violation. After an investigation, Barbara Coleman, 47, of Leaf River was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Coleman was additionally issued citations for no registration light and no taillights. Barbara was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

On Feb. 25 at 2:55 a.m. deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 11,000 block of North Kennedy Hill Road in Byron on a tan colored 2003 GMC Envoy that was driving at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. The tan GMC Envoy refused to stop for deputies, and continued to flee southbound on North Illinois Route 2. Deputies deployed stop sticks which were successful at deflating several of the tires on the tan GMC. Deputies continued to pursue the tan GMC into Byron, before it turned south onto South Fox Run Lane and came to a stop on Deer Wood Court. The driver of the tan GMC refused to comply with deputies’ commands, almost struck several deputies and struck a Byron Police squad car as it drove away. Deputies continued to pursue the tan GMC northbound onto Creekside Drive at which point the tan GMC pulled into a driveway, reversed, and then struck an Ogle County Squad Car. Both squad cars sustained moderate damage after being struck by the tan GMC. 

Deputies continued to pursue the tan GMC westbound onto Illinois Route 72, until the vehicle became disabled, just east of Leaf River. The driver was subsequently taken into custody and identified as Robert J. Murbach, 41, of Byron. Murbach was treated on scene by Leaf River Fire/EMS and transported to Swedish American Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained during the incident. Murbach was later transported to the Ogle County Jail pending a court appearance before a judge. Murbach was charged with: aggravated fleeing to elude a police officer (class four felony), criminal damage to government-supported property (over $500, class three felony), four counts of aggravated assault to a police officer (class A misdemeanor), resisting or obstructing a police officer (class A misdemeanor), possession of a controlled substance (class four felony), aggravated DUI/license revoked (class four felony) and aggravated battery to a police officer (class three felony). Additionally, Murbach was issued the following citations: DUI alcohol/intoxicating compound, failure to reduce speed/too fast for conditions, leaving the scene, speeding 35+ miles per hour, driving on a revoked license, fleeing/attempt to elude an officer, registration light, improper traffic lane usage, disregard a stop sign, operate uninsured motor vehicle and improper turn signal. Deputies were assisted by the Byron Police Department and Leaf River Fire/EMS. The incident is still under investigation, with additional charges pending.

On Feb. 26 at approximately 10:38 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Stillman Road and Plucker Road. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Brandon Barber, 39, of Stillman Valley for driving while license suspended. Barber was cited and released with a return court date.  

On Feb. 26 at 2:35 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on Illinois Route 72 at Illinois Route 251 for improper lane usage. After an investigation, Gemma Esposito, 26, of Davis Junction was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Esposito was additionally cited for electronic communication device, improper lane usage, speeding 15-20 miles per hour over the limit, depositing material on the highway and operating uninsured motor vehicle. Esposito was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

On June 19, 2022,  deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash with a fatality at the intersection of Illinois Route 64 and Mulford Road. At that time deputies determined that a pickup truck driven by Amy M. Anthenat, 47, of Creston, had entered the intersection northbound on Mulford Road and collided with an eastbound motorcycle driven by Richard J. Andrews, 61, of Addison. As a result of the collision Andrews was pronounced deceased. Deputies completed an investigation into the incident and after all evidence was collected and documented, the findings were presented to the Ogle County States Attorney’s Office for review of possible charges. As a result, a warrant was issued for Anthenat for the charge of aggravated driving with a drug, substance or compound in breath, blood or urine resulting in death, a class two felony. Anthenat was taken into custody for the warrant on Feb. 27 and was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she later posted $5,000 (10 percent) as bond. Anthenat was released on the bond and will appear in court on March 24 at 9 a.m.   

On Feb. 27 at approximately 3:48 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chana Road and Flagg Road. After investigation, deputies placed, Kimberly Sanford, 51, of Dixon under arrest for no valid driver’s license. Sanford was additionally issued a citation for speeding. Sanford was released on an I-Bond at the scene and given a future court date.

All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
