Ogle County Sheriff’s Report: May 4-6


OREGON — On May 4 at 2:12 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at Illinois Route 72 and Illinois Route 251. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Xzena Hernandez, 40, of Rockford, for an out-of-state warrant. Hernandez was transported to Ogle County Jail where she was held awaiting extradition. Hernandez was also issued a citation for inoperable registration light. 

On May 4 at approximately 12:28 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of East 3rd Street in Leaf River. After brief investigation, William L. Flannery, 64, of South Elgin was placed under arrest for driving while license revoked. Flannery was also issued a citation for use of electronic communication device while driving. Flannery was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was released to correction staff and held in lieu of bound.

On May 4 at approximately 7:47 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Freeport Road and Robin Road. As a result, a 17-year-old juvenile female of Sterling was taken into limited custody for driving on a suspended license. The juvenile was also issued a citation for speeding 15-20 m.p.h. above the speed limit. The juvenile was subsequently released to a parent.

On May 4 at approximately 9:39 p.m. deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 2,000 block of North River Road. After further investigation, Vidale Johnson, 30, of Rockford, was placed under arrest for aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon. A passenger in the vehicle, Steve Oliver, 31, of Chicago, was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis 100-500 grams, obstructing identification and an outstanding Naperville PD warrant. Johnson was also cited for improper lane usage and a broken tail light. Oliver was cited for illegal transportation of alcohol. Both Johnson and Oliver were transported to the Ogle County Jail where they were held pending an appearance before a judge.

On May 4 at approximately 8:01 p.m. deputies responded to the 9,000 block of East Illinois Route 72 along with the Stillman Valley Fire Department for a single-vehicle crash. After investigation, it was determined that a Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Zachary S. Grove, 28, of Stillman Valley, was traveling westbound on East Illinois Route 72 when it lost control. The motorcycle and occupant then exited the roadway and traveled into the north ditch before coming to a rest. Grove was treated by Stillman Valley Fire Department and was transported to a nearby hospital for his injuries.​ Grove was cited for expired registration, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. The accident remains under investigation.

On May 5 at approximately 7:27 p.m. deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 5,000 block of South Chana Road. After further investigation Robert Curatola II, 35, of Ashton, was placed under arrest for driving while license revoked. Curatola was also cited for speeding and illegal window tint. Curatola was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

On May 5 at 7:21 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 18,000 block of East Illinois Route 64 for an equipment violation. After an investigation, Rashema Malone, 34, of Rockford was arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license. Malone was also cited for illegal window tint. Malone was released on a signature I-Bond with a return court date.

On May 5 at approximately 9:58 p.m. deputies responded to a vehicle parked in the roadway in the 1,000 block of North Ridge Road. After further investigation Jeremy Lower, 42, of Leaf River, was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Lower was also cited for illegal transportation of alcohol and illegal parking in the roadway. Lower was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

On May 6 at approximately 12:33 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Woolf Court in Rochelle. After investigation, Deputies arrested Jesus Orozco, 30, of Rochelle, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Orozco was also issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Orozco was transported to the Ogle County Jail with incident.
