Ogle County Sheriff’s Report: Oct. 31-Nov. 4


OREGON — On Oct. 31 at approximately 12:22 a.m. deputies performed a traffic stop in the 1,000 block of North Illinois Route 2. After investigation, deputies placed Alexsandro Cervantes Huerta, 20, of Rockford under arrest for no valid driver's license. Cervantes Huerta was released on an I-Bond at the scene and was given a future court date.  

On Nov. 1 deputies arrested Deprise Nolton, 29, of Montgomery, Illinois for driving with no valid license. Nolton was arrested by deputies on Interstate 39 near Monroe Center after being stopped for speeding. Nolton was held in lieu of bond at the Ogle County Jail.

On Nov. 1 at approximately 7:28 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Illinois Route 72 and Pecatonica Road. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Darius D. Triplett, 30, of Rockford, for driving on a revoked license. Triplett was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond. Triplett was also cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and unsafe backing on a roadway.

On Nov. 1 at 10:51 p.m. deputies were dispatched to a one vehicle accident in the 8,000 block of North Illinois Route 251. After a brief investigation it was learned that a maroon Chevy SUV, driven by Kari Schmidt, 38, of Cherry Valley, was southbound and left the west side of the roadway. The SUV traveled in the ditch and then struck a field entrance and the vehicle overturned coming to rest on the roof. Schmidt was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle. Schmidt was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and given citations for improper lane usage and not driving on the right side of the lane. Schmidt was taken to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond. 

On Nov. 2 at 6:49 p.m. deputies along with the Rochelle and Hillcrest Fire departments responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Illinois Route 251 and Illinois Route 64. Investigation by deputies revealed that a south bound vehicle operated by Shirley Rees, 82, of Steward failed to yield at the intersection and struck a westbound vehicle operated by Charles Myers, 64, of Mt. Morris. Rees was transported by Rochelle Fire ambulance to Rochelle Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Deputies cited Rees for failure to yield at an intersection.

On Nov. 2 at 9:25 p.m. deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 200 block of South Division Avenue in Polo. As a result of the investigation, Yancy L. Webster, 56, of Polo was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, obstructing identification, resisting/obstructing a police officer and violation of the concealed carry act. Ryan T. Dawson, 31, of Polo was arrested for obstructing identification and resisting/obstructing a police officer. Both Webster and Dawson were also cited for unlawful transport/possession of open alcohol. Both Webster and Dawson were transported to the Ogle County Jail where they were held in lieu of bond. 

On Nov. 4 at 6:45 a.m. deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 8,000 block of North Illinois Route 251 for speeding and improper lane usage on a white Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicle fled from the deputy attempting to conduct the traffic stop, and a short pursuit began, but was terminated shortly afterwards. After an investigation, the vehicle was later located in Steward. The driver of the vehicle, Kory Barber, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer, no valid driver’s license, speeding 35+ over the speed limit and improper lane usage. Barber was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held until his appearance before a judge.
