OREGON — On Sept. 2 at 5:26 p.m. deputies were dispatched to an accident involving injuries at the intersection of North Illinois Route 26 and North Freeport Road. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a blue 2004 Toyota Rav4, operated by Jennifer N. Bookman, 31, of Freeport, was stopped at the stop sign on North Freeport Road. The blue Toyota then proceeded into the intersection with North Illinois Route 26 and was struck by a southbound white 2020 GMC Terrain operated by Shawnda R. Ludwig, 52, of Forreston. Bookman was extricated from the blue Toyota, and transported by Forreston EMS to FHN Hospital in Freeport with potentially serious injuries. Bookman's juvenile passenger was uninjured. Bookman was issued a citation for failure to yield to oncoming traffic. Deputies were assisted on scene by Forreston Fire/EMS and the Illinois State Police.
On Sept. 3 at approximately 9:40 p.m. deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the intersection of East Illinois Route 38 and Interstate 39. The offending vehicle failed to stop for deputies, at which time a minor pursuit ensued. Deputies were able to get the vehicle stopped at Interstate 39 at mile marker 102, at which time Jeffrey Carter, 21, of Chicago, was arrested for aggravated fleeing to elude a peace officer, endangering the life of a child and driving while license revoked. Carter was also issued citations for disregarding a traffic control device, speeding, illegal window tint, no taillights, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and expired registration. Carter was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was held in lieu of bond.
On Sept. 3 at 2:22 a.m. deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover accident in the 2,700 block of East Lynn Road in Byron. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that a maroon 2000 Mercury Sable driven by Ethan A. Heslop, 18, of Byron was travelling west on East Lynn Road. The maroon Mercury failed to negotiate the curve on East Lynn Road, causing the vehicle to exit the roadway and overturn. Heslop and his juvenile passenger were both uninjured. Heslop was arrested for illegal consumption as a minor (zero tolerance). Heslop was also issued citations for too fast for conditions, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of cannabis by a minor. Heslop was released on an I-Bond with a court date to appear. Deputies were assisted on scene by the Byron Police Department and Byron Fire Department/EMS.
On Sept. 3 at approximately 1:10 a.m. deputies responded to the 900 block of West Egan Road in reference to a suspicious vehicle. After investigation, deputies placed Jessica Stoll, 40, of Byron, under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Stoll was additionally issued citations for illegal parking and operating a vehicle with an expired registration sticker. Stoll was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was held in lieu of bond.
On Sept. 3 at approximately 7:25 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 2,000 block of East Illinois Route 64. This came after a driving complaint was received from a concerned motorist. Upon investigation, Scott L. Ide, 29, of Rochelle, was placed under arrest for driving while under the influence of alcohol. Ide was also cited for improper lane usage, improper transportation of alcohol as a driver and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Ide was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.
On Sept. 3 at approximately 2:40 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of North Illinois Route 26 and West Illinois Route 72. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Ashley M. Kreeger, 20, of Shannon for driving on a suspended driver’s license. Kreeger was released from the scene on an I-Bond with a return court date.
On Sept. 4 at approximately 9:22 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the intersection of West South Street and South Center Street in Creston for a hit and run accident. Through the course of the investigation, it was learned that a black SUV, driven by Omar Salazar, 19, of Elgin was traveling eastbound on South West Street, directly behind a blue sedan, driven by a female juvenile from Elgin. It was determined that Salazar rear-ended the blue sedan, at which time Salazar fled from the scene of the accident. Salazar was located a short time later, at which time he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Salazar was also issued citations for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. The female juvenile was also placed under arrest for no valid driver's license, was given an I-bond and released to a parent at the scene.
On Sept. 4 at approximately 6:54 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the 3,000 block of South Knoll Road for a rollover accident with injuries. Upon arrival, deputies learned a 2015 Ford Fusion was driven by 19-year-old Alan Krug of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Krug was traveling northbound on Knoll Road when he lost control of his vehicle on the gravel portion of the roadway and traveled off of the east side of the roadway where the vehicle overturned several times in a cornfield before coming to rest. Krug and his 18-year-old passenger, Gage Pobanz, 18, of Chebanse, Illinois was transported to Rochelle Community Hospital by Rochelle EMS for minor injuries. Krug was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Flagg Center Fire/EMS also assisted with the accident.
On Sept. 5 at 12:58 a.m. deputies were dispatched to Lake Louise Campground (8840 N. Illinois Route 2) for a report of a disturbance. Through the course of the investigation, Sara R. Quezada, 24, of Rockford was arrested for driving while license suspended. Quezada was also issued a citation for an inoperable rear registration light. Quezada was released on an I-Bond with a court date to appear. Deputies were assisted on scene by the Byron Police Department.
On Sept. 5 at 10:50 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on Illinois Route 64 at Interstate 39. After a short investigation, deputies arrested Carlos Aponte, 22, of Rochelle for driving without a valid driver's license. Aponte was released on scene and will appear in court later.
On Sept. 6 deputies arrested Davontae Sockwell, 26, of Rockford for driving while license suspended. Sockwell was arrested by deputies on Illinois Route 64 near Woodlawn Road after being stopped for speeding. Sockwell was released on a I-bond and will appear in Ogle County Court at a later date.
All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
