OREGON — On Sept. 6 at 7:25 a.m. deputies along with the Stillman Valley Fire Department responded to Illinois Route 72 and Rural Road in Stillman Valley for a two-vehicle accident with injuries. After a brief investigation, deputies learned a red 2010 Buick Lacrosse being driven by Cynthia Merryman, 65, of Rockford stopped at the stop sign on Rural Road. The Buick then proceeded into the intersection with East Illinois Route 72 and was struck by a westbound 2020 Ford F-550 driven by Jason Whelan, 46, of Byron. A passenger in the Buick, Brittany Merryman, 25, of Chana was transported to OSF Hospital in Rockford with suspected minor injuries. Cynthia Merryman was issued a citation for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.
On Sept. 6 at approximately 8:26 p.m. deputies responded to the 11,000 block of East Illinois Route 72 for the report of a single-motorcycle accident. Upon further investigation, deputies arrested Cassandra Inman, 42, of Davis Junction, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Inman was transported to St. Anthony Medical Center, where she was treated for a moderate injury. Inman also received a citation for failure to reduce speed. Inman was released on an Individual bond with a future court date given.
On Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at Lindenwood Road and Esmond Road. After a short investigation, deputies arrested Cristopher Polanco, 22, of DeKalb, for driving while his license was suspended. Polanco was released on scene and will appear in court at a later date.
On Sept. 6 at approximately 8:03 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 39 at mile marker 110. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Isaias Martinez Maciel, 28, of Kansas City, Missouri, for no driver’s license. Martinez Maciel was taken into custody without incident and released on a $2,500 individual bond with a return court date set. Martinez Maciel was additionally cited for an inoperable registration light.
On Sept. 7 at approximately 12:45 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 39 at mile marker 109. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Troy L. Neal, 34, of Rockford, for driving while his license was revoked. Neal was taken into custody without incident and released on a $2,500 individual bond with a return court date set. Neal was also issued a citation for expired registration.
On Sept. 7 at approximately 9:15 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 14,000 block of East Lindenwood Road. After investigation, deputies placed Kelly McCoy, 38, of Rochelle under arrest for no valid driver's license and an active Lee County warrant. McCoy was additionally issued citations for a loud muffler, operating an uninsured vehicle and operating a vehicle with an expired registration sticker. McCoy was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was held in lieu of bond.
On Sept. 8 at approximately 1:20 a.m. deputies responded to the 10,000 block of North Illinois Route 2 in reference to a property damage accident. After investigation, deputies placed Cody Kirsch, 29, of Loves Park, under arrest for driving while license suspended. Kirsch was additionally issued a citation for improper lane usage. Kirsch was released on an I-Bond at the scene and given a future court date.
On Sept. 8 at 10:49 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 39 at mile marker 110 southbound. After an investigation, Manda Katuta, 34, of Rockford, was arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license. Katuta was also issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and registration light. Katuta was released on a signature I-Bond with a return court date.
On Sept. 8 at approximately 8:49 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 39 near mile marker 102. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Rosendo Morales, 46, of Rockford, for no valid driver's license. Morales was issued an additional citation for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Morales was given an I-Bond with a return court date later next month and released on scene.
All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
