Opinion: Couple supports Dady

Dear Editor,
There was a time when Republican leaders recognized that there was a higher law than that created by demagogues.
All major religious institutions emphasize the basic human need to love one’s neighbor as we love ourselves. That means providing others with the opportunities for work, shelter, food, medical care, education and legal assistance with sincere kindness and compassionate justice, that peace and prosperity may prevail.

Today, however, some Republican leaders have jettisoned their founding principles and those who still abide by them. Such rejected Republicans, especially in northern Illinois, can defeat these Republican usurpers of their heritage this year and provide an opportunity in the next election to restore their party with new leaders committed to its founding principles.
The 16th Congressional District is fortunate to have a highly respected and competent candidate in Sara Dady. Her history of integrity and openness in discussing the issues and interpreting them in the perspective of enduring values will help to restore confidence in the House of Representatives.
In the words of Owen Lovejoy, a northern Illinois congressman and close associate of Abraham Lincoln: “Let us be true to our principles and God will crown our efforts with success.”
