Opinion: Letter says CASA making a difference in the lives of local children

Dear Editor,

Have you ever had one of those dreams, you know where you are running from something?

Maybe a monster, maybe something silly that your mind made up while you sleep.  All you know is you must run. Your legs feel heavy, your heart is racing. You can feel your fear building throughout your body. It’s getting closer and closer and you need to scream. You open your mouth and nothing. You try again you use all your might to force air out in an attempt to warn others, to call for help, but again nothing.

Have you ever had one of those dreams?

For me I feel children who live in an abused or neglected environment have that “dream” even while they are awake. The lack of power to raise their voices to be heard. They are overwhelmed with fear and stress and yet nothing can come out.

That is why CASA is so important for these children. CASA is their voice. CASA volunteers meet with the children, check their environment and become a voice to the Judge who is gathering information to make very important decisions for those abused and neglected children in our communities.

Support their voice, consider becoming a CASA volunteer, support CASA financially, and spread the word that CASA will stand for those with no voice. Be that voice.
