ROCHELLE – Patricia D. Esterday, 86, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at home surrounded by her four children.

She was born July 30, 1932 in Rochelle to Paul L. and Lucille (Hall) Lower. She graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1950 and married Glenn W. Esterday, Oct. 20, 1950 in the Chapel at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas, where Glenn was stationed. They lived in Fort Worth for four years before moving back to Rochelle.

She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Rochelle. She enjoyed being a part of the many committees and activities of her church and served on the Church council. She was a Board member of the R.T.H.S. Alumni Association and served as an Election Judge for many years. 

Her many hobbies included: sewing bags for the missions from her church, crossword puzzles, crosstitch, games on her Ipad, Euchre, and also saving obituaries for the genealogical dept. at the Flagg Township Library, starting in 1988. 

She was also a breast Cancer survivor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lucille (Hall) Lower; her husband, Glenn, in 2013; brother, John Lower in 2000; and sister, Rita Bearrows in 2017; sister-in-law, Charlotte Lower; and brothers-in-law, Clyde Bearrows and Don Rogde.

Pat is survived by her two sons, Pete (Carol) Esterday and Steve (Colleen) Esterday, both of Rochelle; two daughters, Sheryl Hockenbery of Newport Beach, California, and Mary (Ben) Rogers of Ashton; 11 grandchildren, Eric Esterday, Aaron Esterday, Ariana Esterday, Caleb Esterday, Dana (Billy) Mazurie, Adam (Jacqui) Hockenbery, and Jillian (Brandon Johnson) Hockenbery, Adrienne (Seth) Stafford, Natalie (Nate) Gordon, Corrine (Dan) Kroger, and Benjamin Rogers; 13 great-grandchildren, Jack Wilder, Marissa and Michael Mazurie, Jazlyn Gomez and Brooklyn Johnson, Austin Burkhart and Olivia Stafford, Elsie and Ian Gordon, Graden, Liam, Lilly and Graham Kroger; sister, Joanne Rogde and brother, Paul Lower, both of Rochelle.

Funeral is at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28 at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Joy Alsop, officiating. Visitation is on Sunday, Jan. 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Unger Horner Funeral Home, Rochelle. Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Glenn.
