ROCHELLE — It is that time of year again as the Rochelle Kiwanis Golden K will be hosting their Chili Day on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Rochelle Methodist Church Hicks Hall.
The $7 meal includes all you can eat chili, along with french bread, fruit, cake, punch, milk and coffee. As a bonus, children 10 and under eat free of charge. Carryouts are available.
Golden K member Hugh McDermitt said close to 100 gallons of chili will be prepared, all homemade by about 10 of the club’s members.
“Look what $7 will buy you … and as a bonus, children 10 and under eat free,” McDermitt exclaimed. “We encourage everyone to come for the meal and enjoy some fellowship.”
Chili Day, along with Pancake Day and Peanut Day, are annual fundraisers that Kiwanis Golden K has that benefit the Rochelle community.
All monies collected through club fundraising is returned back to over 20 various organizations including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, HOPE of Ogle County, Hub City Senior Center and the Rochelle Township High School Key Club and scholarships. The Golden K has also donated funds for the upcoming RTHS Band trip to Washington, D.C.
Currently Kiwanis Golden K has about 60 members and meets every Thursday morning for breakfast at Hickory Grove.
