ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Township High School Education Foundation’s Retro Prom had all of the makings of the traditional high school formal, complete with the crowning of a King and Queen.
From the powder blue tuxes, leather jackets and hippie-style outfits to the signature 1980s ruffle dresses and big hairstyles, the retro prom had it all.
The event is the first of its kind for the foundation, and organizers said they are thankful for the sponsors and many businesses along with the attendees for the support that helped contribute to its success.
Funds raised from this event and others help to purchase items such as Chromebooks and specialized equipment for the classrooms at RTHS.
Angie Seldal extended gratitude on behalf of all of the RTHSEF board members.

“We would like to thank every single person that attended and supported this event. It was such a fun night,” Seldal said. “Thank you to the Rochelle News-Leader for always covering our events and getting the information out to the public, First Class Portables for providing the fanciest portable bathrooms I have ever seen, Hormel Foods for your endless support to RTHS and this community, Hicks BBQ for generously providing our guests with fantastic food, and Holcomb Bank for your generous donation. Thank you to John Bearrows for not only being a sponsor but for going above and beyond to help make this event successful.”

Seldal also thanked Ralphie and Lulus for their prompt service after a previously booked vendor cancelled unexpectedly.
