Randy Buck, age 57, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 13, 2017.

He was born on Nov. 11, 1959 in Rochelle, the son of Delbert and Marlene (Graham) Buck.

Randy served in the U.S. Air Force, and worked at NIU, before finding his true calling as a chef. He was known throughout the area at festivals and French markets for his 'Gourmet on The Go' business featuring mouth watering BBQ sauces and rubs. Chef Randy will be fondly remembered for his giving heart, outgoing personality and readiness to accept everyone as they were. His signature look was shorts, a tie-dyed shirt, baseball hat, no matter the season.

Randy is preceded in death by his father, Delbert Buck; and brother, Robbie Buck.

He is survived by his son, Nick Buck and wife Molly Schullo of Tiffin, Iowa; his grandson, Bode Schmidt; his long-time girlfriend, Kelly Strache; mother, Marlene Myers; sister, Renee (Greg) Lower of St. Charles; brother, Rick (Elizabeth) Buck of DeKalb; sister-in-law, Shirley Buck; many nieces and nephews.

Cremation rites were accorded by the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth Street, Rochelle. The family is having a celebration of life gathering at Alfano's Restaurant on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.  We invite Randy's family and friends to join us as we share stories, food, and happy memories.
