ASHTON — Raymond J. Cote, 80, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021 at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon. Ray was born on July 30, 1940 to Henry and Gabrielle (Caron) Cote in Rochelle.
After high school, he proudly served with the United States Navy. After serving in the Navy, he went to work at the University of Hawaii Institute of Geophysics as an electronics technician on university research vessels.
Ray is survived by his five children, Michelle (Tariq) Zunnurain of Des Plaines, Janelle Cote of Springfield, Robyn (Daryl) Cadiz of Honolulu, Hawaii, Matthew Cote of Honolulu, Hawaii and Gabriel Cote of Ashton; brother, Dennis (Pat) Cote of Hampshire; two sisters, Frances Blackwood and Marie-Louise Sims, both of Princeton; and three grandchildren, Sadie of Honolulu, Hawaii, Zoe of Perth, Australia and Zishan of Des Plaines.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; daughter, Heather and brother, Claude.
Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle. Memorials may be made in Ray’s memory to the American Heart Association.
