RCH Foundation awards employee career scholarships

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Community Hospital Foundation would like to congratulate Jessica Colgan and Olivia Ramos as recipients of the Foundation’s Employee Career Scholarships.

This is the first year the foundation offered scholarships and the foundation board is excited to continue to help RCH staff further their education.

Colgan has completed her master’s degree in health informatics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She currently works full-time as a Laboratory Technical Specialist at RCH.

According to her manager, Karen Ravnikar, “Jessica has learned much in working for the Lab and her Health Informatics classes. She has become the go to expert for billing, compliance, point of care testing and the Laboratory Information System. She was recognized in August as High Performer of the Month. She is willing to learn anything she can to improve the laboratory workflow.”

Colgan’s personal goal is to improve the quality of care provided by the laboratory by applying her health informatics education to new and updated workflows.

Olivia Ramos 2020

Olivia Ramos

Olivia Ramos has graduated from Rochelle Township High School and will be attending Kishwaukee College in the fall. Her goal is to attend Bradley University to complete her nursing degree. Along with her many high school activities and honors, she also works part-time at Rochelle Community Hospital as a dietary aide.

Through the KEC program, Ramos has received her CNA and plans to work at RCH this May to see the nurses at work and help them take care of patients.

According to her social science teacher, Mrs. Schneider, “Olivia has the ability to balance and excel in all aspects of her life while maintaining an optimistic personality and a smile. Her intelligence, diligence, determination and willingness to work hard are just a few of her qualities that will help Olivia achieve success in any aspect of her life.”

Ramos sees herself being a nurse practitioner in the future, she knows she will need autonomy, integrity and leadership, and she says she has all three.
