ROCHELLE — Rochelle Community Hospital recognized Bridget Meier, RN on the Medical-Surgical Unit, and Mary Beth Metzger, RN in the Same Day Surgery Department as 2016 High Performers of the Year.
The honor was formally announced at the RCH Holiday Party held at the Chicagoland Skydiving Center on Jan. 13. Both were selected among the 12 High Performers of the Month in 2016. Meier has been employed at the hospital for three years, while Metzger has been with RCH for 29 years. Both were nominated by a co-worker.
Bridget Meier
Among the attributes Meier was nominated for include her customer service, care and compassion; being recognized by patients for the excellent care that she gives; for being professional in her dealings with all those she comes into contact with, and always having the best interest of the patient in mind while balancing this with what is good for RCH. She was also recognized for being aware of the patient’s record on her way to or from a patient’s room. It was mentioned Meier is a great ambassador for RCH and it would serve RCH well to have many more like her.  

Mary Beth Metzger
The nomination for Metzger included the following comments: “Mary Beth does an outstanding job in the Same Day Surgery Department. She is dedicated to the organization and goes above and beyond delivering patient care. Mary Beth is dedicated to this organization and her patients. She admits and discharges patients so seamlessly that her patients have commented on how she makes them feel at ease, so much so, that returning patients have requested her by name. With her years of experience, she is a resource and preceptor to existing and new staff. She is a vital part of this team and an asset to this organization.”
As High Performers of the Year, both each received a plaque of recognition and a check for $250.  
The other RCH High Performers of the Month for 2016 include: Kevin Rogers, Stefanie Roberts, Jody Schoeny, Scott Hickey, RN, Malcolm Zwinklis, Joan Jones, Donna Trout, RN, Dani Foster, RN, Jewel Challand, RN and Lindsey Gambrel.
Rochelle Community Hospital was recognized twice in 2016 for excellent patient care being awarded the 2016 Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for Outstanding Patient Experience in Surgery and the Inpatient Services staff ranked in the top six in Illinois for best nurse-patient communication.
