ROCHELLE — Registration is open for the Bearrows Real Estate and Auction Co. Lucky Hub Dash 5K.
The event is set for Saturday, March 13 and will start and end at the Holcomb Bank parking lot. Holcomb Bank is located at the corner of Caron Road and Illinois Route 38.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and the race begins at 10 a.m.
The race route will take participants down Caron Road onto Flagg Road where they will turn around before the driveway to Rock Valley Credit Union and reverse the route. Drivers are asked to avoid the area the morning of the race.
Participants can register at Eventbrite.com where they will search Bearrows Real Estate and Auction Co Lucky Hub Dash 5K. Last year’s race was cancelled due to COVID-19; however, those who registered last year will have their registrations honored for this year’s event with no additional charge.
In order to be guaranteed a T-shirt for this year’s event, registrations must be made by Feb. 19. All paid participants will also receive a bag containing items donated by event sponsors.

“Since we had to cancel the event last minute in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic we will honor all race registrations from last year with no additional charge. Participants must e-mail us at rochellechamber@gmail.com to confirm their entry and give us their shirt size,” Rochelle Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tricia Herrera said.
Cost is $38 for a single runner and $135 for the 4 Leaf Clover deal.
Elementary school students in grades third through eighth grade in Rochelle and surrounding school districts may sign up to run the race. They are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Rochelle Christian food pantry as their entry fee. Students interested in participating can contact their school office or the chamber to register.
Prizes will be available for first, second and third place runners in youth and adult categories.
“We also have a Most Festive Dressed contest so make sure to break out all your green gear and come dressed ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day,” Herrera added. “All participants over 21 can enjoy some green beer at the completion of the race and we will have green Gatorade for all the kids.”
Sponsors
This year’s sponsors include Bearrows Real Estate and Auction Co., Rochelle Community Hospital, Holcomb Bank, 102.3 The Coyote and Superhits 93.5, Ralfie’s BBQ and Catering, Stillman Bank, Central Bank, City of Rochelle, COUNTRY Financial – Josh Willams and Josh Messenger and Edward Jones – Jessica Morris.
“The Lucky Hub Dash is a great community event to promote fitness and to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the community. We invite all to come out and join us. You don’t have to be a runner - you can jog, walk or stroll the race route,” Herrera said.
Proceeds from the event go to support chamber programs and its members.
“We also want to thank the Rochelle Police Department and the Rochelle Street Department for their help with this event,” Herrera said.
