Rochelle emergency crews were called to Lake Sule at approximately 2:45 p.m. this afternoon for the report of a capsized boat and a man in the water.
The initial caller told police dispatch that it appeared the man was in the water, struggling to get his small boat turned back over after capsizing on the far east side of the lake.
An Ogle County Sheriff deputy and a Rochelle Police Department officer approached the area from I-39 to find the man in shallower water but unable to get out.
The water rescue crew entered the water from the west side of Lake Sule at the boat dock and traveled to the other side where they were able to help the man into the boat and back to shore.
The man declined transport to the hospital.
