Steward — Richard “Dick” C. Miller, 79, passed away Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017 in Oregon. Dick was born Nov. 27, 1937 to Jack and Eva (Weeks) Miller in Chicago.
He married Cecelia F. Dunn on June 17, 1988 in Las Vegas, Nev. He worked for Siegel’s/Stock Building Supply as a kitchen designer for many years. Dick was a former Vice President of the Chicago Chapter of Professional Kitchen & Bath Planners; a member of the planning commission for Steward and a committed member of the administrative council for the Steward United Methodist Church. 
He was a proud American of Danish and European descent who loved home renovation, woodworking and was as passionate about fishing in a local pond as he was on trips to remote lakes in Canada.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cecelia; brother, Donald Sr.; sister, Carole Miller; and brothers-in-law, John Szews and Gary Simonicz.
Dick is survived by three children, DeeDee (Dale) Pisano of Lombard, Michael (Cheryl) Miller of Sumava Resorts, Ind., and Heidi (Rob) Franz of Bridgewater, N.J.; fiancée, Rose Larsen of Rochelle; sister, Noreen Simonicz of Gardnerville, Nev.; sister-in-law, Lily Miller of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren, Brandy (Kelly) Adcock, Rocco (Beth) Pisano, Vinnie (Kohler) Pisano, Jonathan Cruz and Amelia Cruz; four great-grandchildren, Paige, Brock, Luke and Carter; special niece, Sherry Dagrizikos and several other nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St., Rochelle. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14 at the Steward United Methodist Church with Pastor Megan Thompson officiating. Pallbearers are Rocco Pisano, Vinnie Pisano, Kelly Adcock, Mike Miller, Brian Johnson and Greg Danekas. Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Cruz, Terry Arbogast, Arvene Herrmann, Dale Macklin and Dan Miller. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service. Burial will be at a later date at the Steward Cemetery in Steward. Memorials may be made in Dick’s memory to the Steward United Methodist Church and/or to the Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon.
