MENDOTA — Roberta Jean Northcutt, 93, of Mendota, passed away Saturday, Oct. 16 at Stonecroft Village in Mendota.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota with Rev. Ken Foster officiating. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery in Paw Paw. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.

Roberta was born Oct. 28, 1927 in Paw Paw to Ralph and Reta (Russell) Larabee. She married Lynn Northcutt on Sept. 22, 1950 in Princeton.

Roberta graduated from Paw Paw High School. She worked at Avery Dennison in Rochelle for 17 years before retiring. Roberta and her husband lived in the Paw Paw area the first part of their married life and then built a home in Scarboro. She lived there until she moved to Stonecroft Village in 2009 and that was her final earthly home.

Roberta and her husband loved to go boating and fishing. When at home she put out and maintained a huge garden. She did lots of canning and was well known for her pickled beets. She was famous for her delicious fruit breads, pumpkin bars, popcorn balls and chocolate covered peanuts. To know Roberta Jean was to love her. 

She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2006, two brothers, a sister, four brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
