ROCHELLE — Roberto Castro, 62, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at his home in Rochelle.
Roberto was born Nov. 7, 1954 to Silvestre and Elena (Quiroz) Castro in El Paso, Texas. He married Anita Smith in Davenport, Iowa, in 2003.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Anita; daughter, Bobbi Castro; sister, Maria Castro; and two brothers, José and Juan Castro.
Roberto is survived by his son, Joshua Castro of Davenport, Iowa; brother, Sylvester Castro, Jr. of Aurora, Mo.; seven sisters, Manuela (Gary) Tate of Elephant Butte, N.M., Francisca (Larry) Eccles of Casper, Wyo., Elvira (Tom) Cronick of Odessa, Texas, Lydia Castro of Rochelle, Eustolia (Ismael) Belmonte of Rochelle, Carmen Castro of Rochelle, and Lucy (Harold) Wells of Aurora, Mo.; granddaughter, Kenley Michael Wilcox; several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly; and his dog, Chica.
The visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 13 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth Street, Rochelle. There will be a graveside service Tuesday, March 14 at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island.
