Rochelle DAR names Oregon, AFC Good Citizens

The Rochelle Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution recognized the DAR Good Citizens for Oregon and Ashton-Franklin Center high schools at their awards ceremonies on May 10.

The Rochelle Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution recognized the DAR Good Citizens for Oregon and Ashton-Franklin Center high schools at their awards ceremonies on May 10. Sophia Stender was the recipient of the Good Citizen award for Oregon High School and is shown with Chapter Regent Laurie Perry (left) and chapter member Sherrie Taylor (right). Stender's essay was also selected by the chapter, from among the essays submitted by the winners at all the schools the chapter supports, to advance to the district-level competition. Braiden Runkle was chosen as AFC High School's Good Citizen and is shown with DAR Good Citizen chairman Lydia Roberts (left) and chapter member Therese Dickey (right). Both students were chosen for demonstrating the traits of a good citizen: Dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. The Rochelle Chapter has been recognizing outstanding students with this award since 1938.
