ROCHELLE – The Rochelle Fire Department is hosting its annual Golf Play Day fundraiser to help raise money for the community, while also having a fun time.
The outing will take place Sept. 21 at 10 a.m., at Fairways Golf Course and Salt 251. The cost is $50 per person to sign up which includes all of the greens fees, a cart, a meal after the round and a drink ticket. Guests can pay the day of the event, but must let the fire department know they will be attending by Sept. 6 to ensure there will be enough golf carts available.
Along with the round of golf and meal afterwards, there will be multiple prizes being raffled off, a 50/50 raffle and other fun things set up on different holes throughout the round.
“Salt 251 is sponsoring a margarita hole out there, so you will get a margarita as you are golfing and Jeff Perry is sponsoring a hole-in-one for $10,000. We are just trying to incorporate a lot of fun activities,” explained Tyler Christopherson, Rochelle firefighter and paramedic.
The rounds of golf will be played in foursomes, but smaller groups and individuals can register and will be paired up to fill out full groups.
The funds earned through the event will be used to provide a scholarship to a college student, help fund classes for firefighters and support functions for those in need at the fire department social hall.
“This event is just getting fun people together, having a great time, having a couple cocktails, enjoying each other’s company and then also raising money for the social,” added Christopherson. “We encourage everyone to come out and have a great time at the event.”
