ROCHELLE — Community members continue to contribute to the Kitchen Table, with the latest donation coming from the Rochelle Moose Lodge.
The founder of Mooseheart, James J. Davis, once said, “Do some good deed for someone each day.” The Rochelle Moose in this tradition donated 30 place settings to the community café for many to continue to enjoy the delicious food prepared by Carolyn Brown and the volunteers each week.
“It was great to get them as we only had the divided plates in the beginning and this is a very welcomed addition,” Brown said. “It’s great to collaborate and work together with local civic groups, companies and individuals. As a community café, its’ great to see the teamwork and collaborations develop.”
The Kitchen Table offers meals on a pay-what-you-can basis, Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. Thurs., June 30 is the one-year anniversary of the café, hosting a special event with volleyball, bouncy house, cookout, BBQ ribs and/or pulled pork, pasta, salad, and chips.
“We are proud that the lodge was able to help with Carolyn’s efforts to provide wholesome meals,” Dave Schwitters, Rochelle Moose treasurer.
The Kitchen Table is located at 7034 S. Klondike Rd, Rochelle, just off of Ill. Rte. 38. Menu of the day is available by calling 815-561-9074 or by visiting their Facebook page.
