ROCHELLE — Four swimmers combined to break six records Thursday evening when the Rochelle Rays hosted the Byron Tiger Sharks for the team’s second summer meet of 2017.

The Rochelle girls combined to outscore Byron 323-95, with Abby Wagner setting a new record in the 100-yard breaststroke for the 15-18 age group (1:25.17). Cara Forsberg completed the 100-yard backstroke in 1:16.21 to break the previous record for the 15-18 age group set in 2008, and Alison Ohlinger overcame a broken arm to shatter the 50-yard backstroke record for the 9-10 age group set in 2007, finishing with a time of 41.58 seconds.

Wiegartz broke the 100-yard individual medley record he set last week with a time of 1:05.78, and he cracked the 2004 50-yard backstroke record with a time of 30.94. This team epitomizes coaches, swimmers and parents working together as partners in performance,” said Rochelle head coach Marianne Swanson, whose team won the meet by a final score of 630-146. “This is why incredible things are not only possible, but inevitable.”
