Rochelle Rotary Club hosting India Night fundraiser

Posted

ROCHELLE — The Rotary club of Rochelle has been in existence since 1943 and is widely known for its service projects.
The Rochelle band shell at Atwood Park is one of the living memorials of their efforts. The Rochelle club also facilitated international friendships and student exchanges.
Occasionally the club is involved in Global projects. One such project is the present one to purchase school desks and chairs to village schools as well as training of teachers near the city of Bhopal in central part of India.
The Rotary club of Bhopal and the Rochelle Rotary Club are working with the Rotary International Foundation to raise funds towards the project in response to the Union Carbide disaster in Bhopal.

With this in mind, there will be an India night extravaganza at Hickory Grove on Friday, June 8 between 5: 30 and 8: 30 p.m.
The menu will be western and Indian appetizers. There will be booths to try ‘Henna’ painting (temporary artwork on hands with red herbal paint) and a chance for guesrs to try on Indian clothing and sarees and take photographs.
Indian music and songs will be coupled with some Indian folk dance to entertain guests.
Tickets are $ 20 and can be obtained from Rochelle Rotary club members, at all the local banks and Rochelle City Hall.
For more information contact members of Rochelle Rotary Club or John Prabhakar at 815-562 8996.
