ROCHELLE — Unity Hospice proudly names Anita Gulley, of Rochelle, as the 2017 recipient of the Employee of the Year Award.
In her role as certified nursing assistant (CNA), Gulley assists the nursing team in providing patients with personal care, emotional support and assistance with activities of daily living, such as eating and dressing. Her greatest joy as a CNA is the patient-caregiver relationship. She most enjoys seeing the transformation in comfort that her patients feel after she provides care.
Gulley received her nursing assistant certification in 1986 from Kishwaukee College, marking the beginning of her career in long-term care. After learning about the extra time and attention that hospice care affords patients, Gulley decided to make a transition to further her one-on-one time with patients. Today, she works at Unity Hospice and recently celebrated her fifth work anniversary.
“I have had the privilege of seeing Anita in action. She is a compassionate and caring caregiver who not only provides excellent care to the patient, but also the patient’s family,” states Unity Hospice Administrator Deb Rolf. “Anita exemplifies Unity’s values and professional standards. It is an honor to work with her.”
