ROCHELLE — Ronald A. Schopp, 81, passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018 in Dixon. Ron was born on Dec. 23, 1936 in Peoria to Frank A. and Dorothy (Nelson) Schopp. He married Rosemary Ida Rubsam on Aug. 13, 1958 at the Methodist Church in Pekin.
Ron was the Industrial Arts teacher at Rochelle Township High School from 1966 until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family as well as restoring old tractors.
Ron is survived by his four children, Lori (Terry) von Asten of Rochelle, Anthony (Tammy) Schopp, Marlen (Shelley) Schopp and Harlen Schopp all of Ashton; brother, Gary Schopp of Augusta, Illinois; six grandchildren, Kyle (Christen) Schopp, Andrew Schopp, Amanda (Joe) Kerns, Randa Schopp, Kyle O’Dell and Lindsey (Carrigan) Hunter; and seven great-grandchildren: Jacob, Madelyn, Hudson, Adaline, Brendyn, Kylee and Anna.
The visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jessica Bakken officiating. Burial is at the Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.
Memorials may be made in Ron’s memory to Serenity Hospice and Home.
