ROCHELLE — On Tuesday, Aug. 9, the Rochelle Rotary Club installed three little libraries across Rochelle. The little libraries were installed years ago and were taken down before COVID-19 to be repaired, repainted and improved.
The three locations that there are now little libraries are Cooper Park, the Little League field by the bike path and along the bike path near First Presbyterian Church. Little libraries are a part of one of the many Rotary goals of worldwide literacy, and it is full of mostly children’s books but also appropriate books for all ages.
The libraries are free of charge and are completely based on the honor system. Everyone is free to take any book they desire and return it when they are done. The little library at Cooper Park was painted by and books provided by the Girl Scout Troop 409 of Rochelle.
