ROCHELLE — Faith Roush was looking to stay close to home when making her college decision, and the former three-sport athlete at Rochelle Township High School found an opportunity to continue both her academic and athletic careers at the next level.

Roush signed her National Letter of Intent to join the Kishwaukee College softball program this past month, and Roush added her second National Letter of Intent on Thursday, when she inked her commitment to the Kishwaukee volleyball program. Roush will be reuniting with Lady Hub softball teammate Jessie Meyers as a member of the Lady Kougars.

“I chose Kishwaukee because it was close to home and cost effective,” Roush said. “It will be a good fit for me because I liked the opportunities for academics and athletics. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the girls on each team. I’ve met some of them already and they’re a great group. I’m also looking forward to honing my skills for both sports.”

Roush spent four years with the Rochelle volleyball program, playing outside hitter. An Academic All-Conference honoree through the Northern Illinois Big 12 this past season, Roush will be the second Rochelle player to suit up for the Lady Kougars in as many years after former Lady Hub outside hitter Ali VanVickle played for Kishwaukee this past fall.

Roush was an integral part of the Rochelle softball team throughout her four years with the program. She played multiple positions including pitcher, third base and shortstop this past season while bringing home another Academic All-Conference honor.

“Playing volleyball and softball at RTHS has helped me a lot with teamwork and time management skills,” Roush said. “I have also gotten most of my work ethic from playing the two sports. These skills will definitely come in handy during college.”

Roush said she plans to study physical and biological sciences at Kishwaukee in order to double major in conservation and meteorology. She said she hopes to use her education to pursue a career in research.
