High school holds outdoor celebration for graduating seniors

They don’t get a prom, they didn’t get a senior homecoming, but they still got to have a “Blast!”

Saturday was a special for day for Rochelle Township High School seniors as the first-ever “Senior Blast” happened.

Gates opened at 7 p.m. at the football practice field with games and music. Followed by a movie on the big screen, “Spiderman.” After that, there were fireworks.

Of course, masks and social distancing were honored.

To make up for the lack of normal and exciting school-year activities enjoyed by many high school seniors, there was a court voted upon by RTHS students.

The candidates were Nate Askland, Garrett Burdin, Juan Cincire, Ben Harvey, Spencer Warborg, Ava Coglianese, Mary Coglianese, Morgan Haas, Lizbeth Ugalde and Faith Worthington.

Check out Wednesday’s edition of the Rochelle News-Leader for photos of the court and all the other activities.
