RTHS math team takes 4th at regional, qualifies for state

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Township High School math team took fourth place at Saturday’s regional math competition, qualifying members and teams for the state championships. Coach Mike Fonfara said just how many RTHS mathematicians, he isn’t sure yet, “There may be more qualifiers based on results from other regions.” The state contest is April 22 at Illinois State University. 

Distinguishing themselves Feb. 25 were: Drake Ramos (first, geometry), geometry team (first place, Manny Cruz, Allison Drobick, Lillian Drobick, Noah Lefevre, Drake Ramos and Lucas Smardo), junior/senior two-person team (first, John Green and David Wanner), Aiden Ramsey (second, Algebra II),  Mark Green (second, Algebra I), John Green (third, precalculus), Lillian Drobick (fifth [tie], geometry) and Noah Lefevre (tie, geometry).
