BYRON — Ruth A. Pest, 100, formerly of Rochelle, passed away on March 21, 2020 at the Neighbors Nursing Center in Byron.  She was born on Jan. 14, 1920 in Chicago, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Kosbab) Lipske. She married James Pest on July 10, 1937 in Crown Point, Indiana; he preceded her on June 8, 1993.  

She is also predeceased by her parents and brother, Melvin Lipske and sister, Esther Gitteson.

She was an expert seamstress and enjoyed dancing, painting, puzzles, playing games, especially scrabble and spending time with her family.

Ruth is survived by her five children, David (Paula) Pest of Rochelle, Ruthann Pest of Loves Park, Janice (Eugene) Cook of Rochelle, Marsha (Stephen) Lochrie of Baxter, Tennessee, and Nadine (Craig) Strawbridge of Monroe, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. 

Private family only burial will be held at Trinity Memory Gardens on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.
