ROCHELLE — The score wasn’t in her team’s favor, but Rochelle junior Britney Salinas did what she could to keep the Lady Hubs’ spirits up when the girls took on the LaSalle-Peru Lady Cavaliers at Rochelle Township High School on Tuesday.
Trailing 11-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Rochelle put two runs on the board when Salinas crushed a home run to left field, her first long ball of the season. The hit game the home fans plenty to cheer about, but in the end it was LaSalle-Peru who won the game, topping the Lady Hubs by a final score of 16-3.
Rochelle senior Jovana DeLaTorre went 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI in the bottom of the first inning, and three other girls recorded at least one hit including senior Paige Myroth, junior Jessie Meyers and senior Christina Payton. The Lady Hubs fall to 1-14 with the loss.
