ROCHELLE – The Rochelle Fire Department and Rochelle Police  responded to an accident involving two semi-trucks Monday afternoon.
The accident occurred at 12:57 p.m. at the intersection of Illinois Route 38 and Dement Road in Rochelle. Both vehicles appeared to be making a turn onto Dement Road, when they collided in the middle of the intersection.
One of the semis was leaking either antifreeze or hydraulic fluid onto the road, so firefighters put down oil dry powder on the road to prevent any chemicals from leaking into the farm sewer. One of the driver’s sustained minor injuries, but was not transported to the hospital.
“Overall, the accident was fairly uneventful,” said Rochelle Fire Chief Dave Sawlsville. “Minor injuries, no medical transports and virtually no hazardous material.”
One of the semi-truck drivers was cited for failure to reduce speed that resulted in an accident. The driver posted I-Bond and was released.
